Performance Engineer JavaSE/JVM/Linux (m/f)

You will be part of our Architecture Team and will directly report to our Head of Architecture. Your ultimate goal will be to take actions to achieve application performance that yields an excellent user experience. In order to effectively deliver an excellent user experience, performance must be managed throughout the application life-cycle taking and end-to-end view.

Your Responsibilities

• Design and perform complex measurement studies characterizing the performance, scalability and robustness of our application in real world situations.
• Consult the development team throughout the development life-cycle.
• Take an end-to-end view on the whole application to provide technical leadership and mentoring.
• Trouble shoot and resolve concrete production issues.

Your Profile

• Proven track record of being able to work independently and achieve targets in a timely manner. Exceptional attention to detail. Capability to multi-task and manage priorities.
• 3+ years of server side Java development with a focus on high-performance. Master degree or PhD in computer science is a plus.
• Mastery of your extensive performance analysis tool set down from the OS level into the Java application level.
• You are not afraid of touching C/C++ source code on the Linux kernel and JVM level.
• Very good understanding of distributed computing infrastructures. Network performance analysis skills are a plus!
• Extensive theoretical and practical background in algorithms and data-structures, both in a single threaded and a multi threaded environment. Non-blocking (lock-free, wait-free) algorithms are not a foreign territory to you.
• Expert understanding of throughput, latency, memory and CPU utilization.
• Outstanding trouble shooting and reasoning skills.
• Extraordinary ability to identify potential limitations in software architectures.
• Excellent communication skills.
